To lift up or hold down…

In order to lift someone up, you have to be on higher ground. If you are holding someone down, a part of you remains low as well.

It's been a year…

Most who have known me for long savvy that I have been a hard drinker for a long time—from about 1985 till June 1, 2012 (yes, I was fifteen when it started).
While mostly a happy drunk, at times I would get surly and mean and say bad things to people who did not deserve it at all—and mainly to those who deserved it LEAST of all—my close friends and family. I again profusely apologize to each and every one of you for my past indiscretions.
The good news is, it has now been ONE YEAR since taking a drink of alcohol! I had forgotten how good you feel with a clear mind and and healthy system.
I thank GOD for giving me the strength to make it through—I think I can do it now.

About Me

My photo

Jim Olson is a ranch-raised cowboy, author and entrepreneur. Growing up on the high plains of eastern New Mexico he learned to ride young colts, tend to cattle and drive heavy farm equipment at an early age.

Jim spent a few years competing in the calf roping event at the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association level, qualifying for the circuit finals a few times. He lives on and operates a ranch near Stanfield, Arizona, once a part of John Wayne’s Red River Ranch, and also owns Western Trading Post, dealing in Cowboy and Indian collectibles.

These great life experiences Jim now uses in his writing career. He writes stories about interesting and extraordinary people of the west including short stories of both fiction and nonfiction. He has a monthly column titled “Cowboy Heroes,” published by several Southwestern and national magazines. Jim has written three books and is working on other projects as well.
